Introduction

PolyHack is a global hybrid hackathon + ideathon that empowers talented students to demonstrate their creativity and excellence in solving real-world challenges.

Diverse talents from any technical background, location, high school, and university collaborate to produce innovative projects in a span of 10 days and get the opportunity to receive professional guidance, recognition, and enormous rewards.

What is PolyHack?

Hosted by GDSC PolyU, this is our signature event that brings together talented students worldwide to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills! As students ourselves with experience in different competitions, we wanted to build something that is different.

During its founding year in 2022, PolyHack attracted over 300 participants from 23 regions, representing 75 educational institutions and 80 different majors.

The competition is fierce, but winners receive a wide range of prizes, including cash, tech gadgets, internships, certifications, and much more. In fact, the total prize sum awarded at PolyHack 2022 exceeded 150,000 HKD!

This year, we are scaling up. More partners, a bigger prize pot, and a much bigger team to support you! We invite you to embark on this exciting journey!

Our Vision

At our hackathon, we're all about putting students first! Organized by students for students, we have a unique understanding of what participants want and need from an event. Our focus is on delivering an experience that captures their interests and challenges them to push their boundaries to achieve greatness.

We are passionate about recognizing and rewarding exceptional students, and our ultimate objective is to showcase their incredible achievements to the wider community, including our esteemed partners, sponsors, and academia.

We are open to students worldwide, creating true collaboration, networking, and inclusivity among participants. This presents an amazing opportunity for students to connect with like-minded peers from all corners of the world and gain invaluable experience in a truly international setting.

Competition Details

PolyHack is a carefully-curated 3-phase competition for you to learn and have fun!

First, to qualify, each participant must complete at least one of the mind-bending puzzles and challenges designed before the Opening Ceremony on June 8. The top winner in the leaderboard will receive a cash prize of 1,000 HKD (~130 USD)!

Then in the Ideation Phase, you will then get to roll up your sleeves and bring your ideas to life! Choose a theme that you want to tackle and formulate a solution that is viable and implementable. A business plan is expected from you or your team.

Finally in the Implementation Phase, it's time bring your ideas to life! With mentorship and workshops, you can turn your plans into a tangible solution to make a real-world impact! A functional implementation is expected, and a pitch if you get selected.
